I do not accept health insurance for Couples Therapy or Discernment Counseling.
However, I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield/ Carefirst insurance for Individual Therapy. I am an out-of-network provider with all other insurance companies for individual therapy, which means that I do not bill insurance. For individual therapy clients, I am happy to offer you the the necessary paperwork (superbill) to file with your insurance provider for possible partial or full reimbursement.
Please know that not all insurance plans offer reimbursement and that some may have a deductible or an allowable amount. It is best to call the number on the back of your insurance card and speak to a representative about what your specific benefits are. I'm happy to talk this through with you at any time.

Click the button below to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me.
After the consultation, if we decide it is a good fit and I believe I can help you, I will send you all of the intake paperwork and we will schedule an appointment together.
I request that the intake paperwork be filled out within 48 hours to reserve your appointment time.
I can’t wait to hear from you.
P.S. You may request appointments at the following link: https://klptherapy.clientsecure.me
Bookmark this link should you want to return to it.
If you do not see any availability and want an appointment, email me directly in case there are available appointments that aren't showing on the calendar.
The first step is to schedule a 15 minute consultation with me. There is no cost or obligation, and the call will be confidential and non-judgmental.
The purpose is for you to get a feel for me and allow you to ask any questions you may have to determine that it's a good fit for you.
Connecting with a therapist should be a positive, affirming experience. -
After requesting a consultation or your first appointment, you will be sent an email requesting you log onto a portal that we will use for secure communication. On your personal portal you will be asked to complete some intake information, so that I can begin to provide you with the best possible care in our first session.
-
During your first appointment, we will briefly review any paperwork and answer any questions you may have.
Then I invite you to share your hopes and goals for our work together. That might sound like, "in six months, if therapy were a smashing success, what would be different? How would you know?"
This is the fun part where you get to imagine what things would look like if you felt better or, say, your communication improved, or you and your partner were more connected to one another. We explore this with questions like, "How you would know if you were more connected to one another? What might indicate to you that you are making the progress you desire - whatever that progress may be?"
Then I spend some time learning about you, and if doing couples work, learning more about what happens between you and your partner(s) when you have a hard time. This helps me understand your dynamic and how I can help you.
-
Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged a missed session fee. Missed appointments will be charged full session fee, as this time has been reserved specifically to meet your needs.
By not cancelling your appointment, you are agreeing to a full session fee. For individuals with BCBS/Carefirst insurance, this fee is not payable by your insurance company. Your card on file will be charged on the day services should have been rendered.
You may request or cancel appointments at the following link: https://klptherapy.clientsecure.me

I work with people who are in committed relationships, whether married or not. I also work with people in different relationship constellations at different stages of their relationship.
I also offer individual therapy for relationship issues, anxiety, life stage transitions and more.
-
I meet with clients weekly or bi-weekly.
This schedule maximizes the impact of the work and really allows us to make legitimate progress toward your goals. The total duration is up to you - some people come for a handful of sessions and feel equipped to move on. Others prefer to do deeper work and commit to longer periods of time.
-
The therapeutic process looks different for everyone. I will work with you to clearly identify your treatment needs, review progress and any subsequent goals, and check in regularly to understand your sense of how the process is working for you. Moving on from therapy is a process that we will engage in together, at your own pace.
-
Head on over to the contact page and send me a message, or feel free to email me (klp@klptherapy.com), send a secure message through the client portal, or give me a call at 410-819-2150.
That said, singing telegram would be my favorite.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.

Yes, it can be.
Although some change may come quickly and easily, other change will be slow and challenging.
Sitting with painful thoughts and emotions and uncovering new things about ourselves can be challenging. But that’s exactly what I’m trained to support you in, and processing these things allows you to break through the barriers you currently feel so constrained by. Things might get uncomfortable sometimes, and I’m here to sit in that right alongside you.
